Frequently Asked Questions
Planning your Sintra tuk tuk tour? Here are the answers to the most common questions travelers ask before booking with us.
What's the cancelation policy?
For our Personalized Half-Day and Personalized Full-Day, cancellations made at least 14 days in advance are eligible for a full refund of the deposit, excluding transaction fees.
For the All-Inclusive Tour, cancellations made at least 14 days before the scheduled date will receive a 75% refund of the deposit.
Where do we meet?
The meeting point for the tour is in Sintra, usually at 9 am 😊
You have a few options to get to Sintra from Lisbon:
– Private transfer: The driver can pick you up directly from your hotel and take you to the meeting point in Sintra, for 45€ (included on All-Inclusive), this is the total price per vehicle not per person. This takes around 40 minutes. All our drivers speak English.
– Uber/Bolt: This option costs around 28€. It takes about 40-50 minutes
– Train: That option costs 2.70€ per person, and the ride is about 50 minutes. You only can buy tickets on the day at the train station. You should take it on Rossio Station and drop at Sintra Station.
If you choose Uber/Transfer, the meeting point will be at Casa do Preto, a lovely pastry shop.
If you opt for the train, we’ll meet at Café Saudade, located near Sintra’s train station.
Time duration of the tour
The Sintra Full-Day Tours lasts approximately 8 hours, typically running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The Sintra Half-day Tours lasts around 4 hours.
How can we pay?
To secure your tour, we kindly request a 50% deposit of the total cost at the time of booking.
This deposit must be paid via credit card.
The remaining balance can be settled on the day of the tour, either in cash or by credit card. 😊
Where do we have lunch?
Lunchtime is only included on the full-day tour options.
Lunch is always a high moment of the tour. The restaurant I will take you to will always be local and non-touristic, so you can try typical, original, delicious Portuguese food. 🍲
Do tickets need to be purchased in advance?
Yes, we highly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance, especially for popular monuments like Pena Palace, to avoid long queues and ensure availability.
For standard tours, we do not purchase tickets on behalf of our clients, but we provide guidance on which tickets to buy and the best time slots to choose.
However, if you book our All-Inclusive Tour, we take care of purchasing the tickets for you, and their cost is already included in the tour price.
Please note that some tickets only become available for purchase three months before the visit date, so it’s important to plan accordingly.
If you need assistance, we’ll be happy to advise you on the best options for your tour. 😊
Maximum quantity of people per tour
All our tours are private, meaning that whether you’re a couple or a group, the tuk-tuk will be exclusively for you—no sharing with other guests.
Each electric tuk-tuk can accommodate up to six people. However, if your group is larger, we can easily arrange multiple tuk-tuks to ensure everyone enjoys the same experience together.
For example, if you have 12 people, we would provide two tuk-tuks, following the same route so that your group stays connected throughout the tour.
No matter the size of your group, we’ll make it work! 😊
How do I book the planning call?
The Planning Call is a gift for clients who book a Full-Day Tour with us.
Once your deposit is confirmed, simply reach out to our team, and we’ll send you a link to schedule your call at your convenience. 😊
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. The deposit is 50% of the cost of the tour.
Where and how much is the winetasting?
Colares region in Sintra has one of the most unique wines in the world. A wine that’s planted on the sand close by the cliffs.
We do the wine tasting at Adega Regional de Colares or Mare et Corvus.
The Colares region in Sintra is home to one of the world’s most unique wines—a rare variety grown on sandy soil near the cliffs, untouched by phylloxera.
For our Wine Tasting Experience, we visit either Adega Regional de Colares or Mare et Corvus, where you can enjoy a tasting of four different wines for €24 per person.
- If you book our Personalized Full-Day Tour, you can choose wine tasting as one of your activities.
- In our All-Inclusive Experience, wine tasting is one of the many ways you can customize your tour, and it’s already included in the price.
- For a Half-Day Tour, the Wine Tour can be added as an extra for €50 (total cost), plus €24 per person for the tasting.
A truly special experience for wine lovers! 🍷😊
What if it rains? (Weather concerns)
Don’t worry about the rain.
Many tours have been done in the rain, always with great feedback, and if it’s not going to be a crazy storm, you’ll have a lot of fun!
The tuk tuk has side covers and blankets for you.
Be sure to bring a jacket that can handle rain and an umbrella (If you don’t have one, you can buy it in a souvenir shop).
What should we bring to the tour?
Bring a jacket like a windbreaker even in the summer (Trust us, Sintra is always cooler than Lisbon)
Comfortable shoes (IMPORTANT)
Water bottle so you can drink the spring water from Sintra
In the summer or on warm days, bring hats to cover your head, including sunscreen
If it’s hot, you can bring swimsuits, so you can swim in Cascais.
And of course, don’t forget the good vibes!
What about the lines and queues in the high season?
What about the lines and queues in high season?
Don’t worry—but trust us! 😉
Our guides have years of experience and know exactly how to navigate traffic and crowds. We carefully advise the best monuments and time slots to help you avoid the busiest periods.
While there are no skip-the-line options, we manage the itinerary strategically to minimize waiting times as much as possible.
Of course, during peak season, some queues are unavoidable, but rest assured—you’re in the best hands! 😊
What would be the ideal full-day tour itinerary?
The perfect day in Sintra? We’ve got it planned for you!
For the best experience, we recommend visiting one monument from the inside—our top choice is Quinta da Regaleira—and exploring the rest from the outside, with plenty of stops, stunning photo opportunities, and fascinating stories along the way.
This approach gives you more time to enjoy the best of the region! You’ll also get to choose 3 out of these 4 incredible activities:
✔️ Azenhas do Mar
✔️ Wine Tour
✔️ Cabo da Roca/Peninha (weather permitting)
✔️ Cascais
This is how you make the most of your Sintra adventure! 🚀✨
Does your tuk tuk have side covers?
Yes! It will protect you from the cold, wind and rain.
Plus, the tuk tuk always carries comfortable blankets.
Do we walk a lot on your tours?
If you’re booking a Half-Day Tour without visiting a monument from the inside, there’s almost no walking involved—just enjoying the sights with comfortable stops along the way.
For a Full-Day Tour, the experience is fully personalized to match your preferences and physical comfort. You can choose to have a low-activity itinerary with minimal walking or, if you prefer, cover up to 15 km (9 miles) in a day for a more immersive exploration.
Keep in mind that some monuments require more physical effort, such as the Moorish Castle and Monserrate Palace, which involve uphill walks and uneven terrain. Whatever your preference, we tailor the tour to ensure the best experience for you! 😊🚶♂️
Is there an option to do the tour in a car?
Yes, there is! 🚗
Some of our guides have private, comfortable cars and can offer you a tour in one of them.
These cars can accommodate up to six people, providing a smooth and relaxing experience while exploring Sintra and beyond. 😊
What's the minimum age for your tours?
Our tours have no minimum age—everyone is welcome, from 0 to 99+ years old! 😊
However, for safety reasons, the minimum age for the tuk-tuk is 5 years old, or younger if the child is tall enough to sit securely.
But don’t worry—if you’re traveling with younger children, we can arrange a private car tour to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for your family. 🚗✨
Do kids and young people have fun on your tours?
Absolutely! Our tours are designed to be engaging and enjoyable for all ages, including kids and young people.
With a mix of fascinating stories, fun facts, interactive moments, and plenty of scenic stops, we make sure that younger travelers stay entertained throughout the experience.
For families, we can adapt the itinerary to include activities that kids love, such as exploring magical castles, discovering secret tunnels, and even spotting some local wildlife along the way.
Plus, riding in a tuk-tuk or a private car makes the journey itself an adventure! 🚀😊
Your tour are private or group tours?
All our tours are 100% private! 🚀
We believe that the best experiences happen when you’re with people you know, which is why we never mix different groups.
- You’re welcome to bring another couple or friends, but we won’t pair you with other travelers.
- Even if you’re a solo traveler, you’ll have the tuk-tuk all to yourself—no sharing with strangers.
This way, we ensure the perfect energy for your tour! 😊✨
Can we skip the lines with you?
Everyone hates crowds, and we get it! That’s why, on a Full-Day Tour, we carefully plan the itinerary to minimize wait times and help you avoid the busiest spots.
While there’s no such thing as skip-the-line tickets, our expertise allows us to bypass many queues with smart scheduling.
However, some things are unavoidable—for example, visiting both Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira on the same day without encountering any lines is impossible.
All these details will be discussed in your Planning Call, where Daniel will craft the perfect itinerary based on your preferences.
